Little Governors’ Camp is a luxury safari camp located on the edge of the Masai Mara National Reserve. The camp is intimate in character, with just 17 luxury en-suite tents next to a large watering hole that teems with both birds and wildlife. You will approach the camp by a boat ride across the Mara River, then an escorted walk through the riverine forest. Vehicles are left on the far riverbank, and the camp is therefore quiet and undisturbed.
Little Governors’ Camp, with its own independent character, was built around a small watering hole that teems with birds and wildlife. The camp is reached by boat and the exquisite, romantic setting has a serenity all of its own. Little Governors’ casts its spell over all who visit, from honeymoon couples to Presidents. Intimate in character, there are just seventeen tents tucked away amongst the trees. From every verandah the view changes constantly as giraffe, elephant, buffalo, hippo and warthog all come to drink or graze. Getting here is an adventure in itself. You first have to cross the Mara River by boat, then a short escorted walk through the riverine forest. All the tents are comfortable and tasteful. Each has an en-suite bathroom with hot running water.
The guest tents at Little Governors’ have wooden decks with large verandahs for guests to enjoy the constant game activity that takes place around the natural watering hole at the camp. All Governors’ properties are not fenced, and at Little Governors’ there is a resident family of warthogs that wander freely through the camp. Guests may need to make way for elephants which sometimes visit the camp at lunchtime. We have recently installed a solar power system in camp and Little Governors Camp is now running on 100% solar power.
Little Governors Camp has a Gold Eco-Rating award from Eco Tourism Kenya due to our sustainable practices in place in camp. Activities on offer from the camp include game drives in our custom-built 4 wheel-drive vehicles, great for wildlife photography and Hot Air Balloon Safaris (extra charge), visits the nearby Masai community manyatta and visits to the community and conservation projects we support.

As dusk falls, the flickering lights in the forest make the Camp a peaceful and atmospheric place. Meals are our usual superlative standards, served, as is our style, outdoors during the day and in our candle lit dining tent by night. Come the evening it’s time for chilled drinks and tall tales around the blazing campfire. Then finally a delicious dinner and a hot-water bottle to keep you warm in bed.
A traditional campfire is lit at sunset every evening and after dinner clients enjoy sitting around the
campfire, reminiscing about their safari in its evocative light.
There are various activities on offer: game viewing in open vehicles, balloon flights over the
wide plains of the Masai Mara and visits to the Masai manyatta (homestead) and community
projects. Flying Safaris to Mfangano Island on Lake Victoria are also on offer. However, we
