What Does PPS Mean? PPS (Per Person Sharing) means cost Per Adult when sharing the Room with another. Example KES 10,000/- PPS means, 2 Adults in 1 Room pay KES 20,000/-
Julia’s River Camp: is located on the banks of the Talek River, inside the Masai Mara Nature Reserve and also has 28 double tents, distributed into 3 separate camps. Each tent is equipped with 2 single beds (some can be converted to double), duvet and fine cotton sheets, LED lighting, sewn-in mosquito nets, wooden furniture, private en-suite bathroom with hot running water 24hrs a day and private verandah looking onto the river. Each of the 3 camps has its own Mess Tent where dining is provided. Classic Tents measure 7x3m, Classic Superior Tents 8,5x3m and VIP tents measure 9x3m. Julia’s River Camp offers a full board meal plan as well as an all-inclusive regime for guests who stay in our VIP tents (all meals and drinks, including alcohol) and also the option of a Game Package which includes 2 daily game drives (or one full day game drive with packed lunch) in our own specially adapted 4×4 landcruisers.
Julia’s River Camp three spacious Mess Tents provide the perfect setting for enjoying the delicious meals our talented chef will prepare for you, as well as offering a great space to relax and unwind in after a long days safari.
The dining area can be set up to accommodate the different guest parties who stay with us (maximum 12 tents in Hippo and Buffalo camps, and maximum 4 in VIP) and will only be shared with other guests of the same camp.
Julia’s River Camp also serve meals in the outdoor areas, for example breakfast watching the sun come up or lunch under the shade of a tree by the riverside, that is if you don’t decide to stay out all day on safari (in that case we can organise a packed lunch for you).
The chill-out zone has comfortable chairs and cushions and has a library area which you are free to use. Julia’s River Camp also offer a communal plug point where you can charge up your camera, laptop, mobile phone etc. Our attentive and diligent staff will be delighted to offer you a selection of drinks from our bar and serve your meal when you are ready. To finish off the evening, Julia’s River Camp highly recommend a digestif around the camp fire accompanied by relaxing conversation and the sounds of the African night under a rich mantle of twinkling stars.

Measuring 21m2, the classic tent, also Julia’s River Camp most economic option, is comfortably furnished with twin beds dressed in the finest Indian cotton, warm duvet and Masai blanket, carpeted flooring, locally made wooden furniture, solar panel lighting and sewn-in mosquito nets. A small safety box is built into each single bed which guests can use to store small valuable items and secure with their own padlock. The private en-suite bathroom includes a regular flushing WC and closed shower area with hot running water 24 hours a day.
Meals are served in the Hippo Mess Tent, shared with 11 other tents.
Julia’s River Camp 12 Classic Superior tents (25m2) are located in Julia’s River Camp Buffalo Camp. Each tent has sewn-in mosquito nets, comfortable beds with fine cotton sheets and duvets, bedside tables, solar powered lighting and private en-suite bathroom with hot running water 24h/day and regular flushing toilet. Furthermore, the Classic Superior tents have a 90% exterior shade netting roof, for a cooler tent and have a larger bathroom and bedroom, offering the best combination of price and comfort. Two small safety boxes which can be secured with the guests’ own padlock are available for storing small valuable items. Views of the river Talek can be enjoyed from the private elevated wooden verandah. Please note: this tent can host up to a maximum of 3 guests. However, we also offer a Classic Superior Family Tent, available upon request and subject to availability. Maximum 4 guests (or 4 plus 1 infant)

Julia’s River Camp VIP camp is located in a secluded wood on the banks of the river Talek and is the ideal setting for honeymooners and private groups. Each spacious tent, measuring 27m2, sits on its own elevated wooden platform offering privileged views of the relaxing surroundings. Twin beds dressed in fine Indian cotton sheets, warm duvet and Masai blankets are standard, with doubles available upon request. All tents include sewn-in mosquito nets, wooden bedside tables and coat rack, solar powered lighting, luggage racks, and private en-suite bathroom with hot running water 24 h/ day and regular flushing toilet.
All guests who choose to stay in one of Julia’s River Camp four VIP tents can enjoy an all inclusive meal package, which includes breakfast, lunch and dinner, tea, coffee and mineral water. They can also enjoy exclusive use of the VIP mess tent and outdoor communal areas, shared with only 3 other VIP tents, making intimacy and relaxation a key part of the guests’ experience. Please note: this tent can host up to a maximum of 3 guests. However, we also offer a Classic Superior Family Tent, available upon request and subject to availability. All guests who stay at Julia’s River Camp can enjoy full board regime with mineral water, tea and coffee available at no extra cost. Guests staying in Julia’s River VIP tents will also have beer, wine and sodas available to them.
Julia’s River Camp talented chef and professional and enthusiastic camp staff will be glad to attend to any special needs. The secret of our dishes lies in their simplicity. Besides the Continental or English breakfast every morning, our daily menus for lunch and dinner are always varied and combine traditional and healthy recipes. Don’t miss our homemade desserts and cakes (upon request).
For lunch Julia’s River Camp offer the option of a packed lunch on safari or seated lunch back at the camp, depending on your plans for the day. In the evening, you can enjoy a well earned sundowner before dinner after which Julia’s River Camp are happy to serve you a splendid three course dinner of African or Mediterranean cuisine accompanied by a selection of the finest wines from South Africa.
Julia’s River Camp Game Package plan is available to all guests and includes 2 daily game drives in our open 4×4 Toyota land cruisers, specially designed and adapted for the best safari experience. In fact, they are quite unique to the area as most safari vehicles have windows which makes photographing the wildlife a whole lot trickier. In our cars you have nothing but the Kenyan fresh air between your lense and the spectacular wildlife! Julia’s River Camp cars also include individual power points for charging cameras, phones etc.
Julia’s River Camp driver-guides not only take you to the wildlife hotspots but also offer local knowledge of the area and first-hand experience with the wildlife and its behavioural patterns.
Please note: If you wish exclusive use of Julia’s River Camp Safari vehicle for you and your companions, we can guarantee you a private safari for an extra 50 US$ supplement per day per person. Minimum 2 people and only applicable to Game Package plans.
Balloon Safaris are a fantastic way to experience the Masai Mara from a bird’s eye view. The ride usually starts at sunrise and lasts one hour.
The trip is magical: spend about one hour silently floating over the savannah in a hot air balloon and it will fill you with enough memories to last a lifetime. You take off in the wee hours of the morning, float in the sky, drifting with the whim of the wind, overlooking the plains, just in time to experience a breathtaking sunrise and catch a bird’s eye view of the reserve.
