The Electric Safari Vehicles are silent, 100% solar powered, can take our guests on full day game drives and are more powerful than its ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) version.
In Nairobi, the company Opibus converted Emboo River’s Land Cruisers from the 1990s into Electric Vehicles (EVs) by removing the ICE and the gear box and replacing them with an electric engine, batteries and a touch screen. Every vehicle has a battery capacity of 35 kilo watt hours.
Emboo River offers you the perfect Safari experience in the midst of nature while you can also enjoy all luxuries. At Emboo River you will enjoy a true Safari Glamping holiday.
Located along the river bend, your room blends in perfectly with the nature around it. To make sure that you can enjoy the surroundings to the fullest, we had our Safari Tents specially designed. The sides of your room open fully, so you can enjoy floor-to-ceiling views over the river. Even your rain shower has a view.
Emboo River is not fenced, as we want animals to roam freely. You can see hippos in the river, elephants passing by for a drink and – if you want to – you can sleep with nothing but the room’s mosquito net down and watch zebra graze next to your room at night.
It’s all in the details and at Emboo River we paid special attention to the little luxuries in your room. The modern furniture was handmade from natural materials by our own team and local artisans, so you can enjoy bespoke furniture and at the same time empower the local community. Our showers, for example, are made from gumpoles from our own sustainable plantation. The room is decorated with lush fabrics and vibrant colours, so you will feel right at home.
GLAMPING SAFARI TENT
Watch giraffes stroll by while enjoying a meal. Hear the song of a Southern Ground Hornbill while sipping from your drink.
Emboo River’s meals are served in our lounge area along the river bend, on the terrace in front of your room or in the midst of the savannah for a bush breakfast or lunch.
Emboo River’s Chefs apply a Farm to Fork concept, by using local and fresh ingredients to make sure that you enjoy delicious meals.
Within the camp, Emboo River has its own organic vegetable and herb garden – called ‘shamba’ in Kenya – with bell peppers, squash, rosemary, basil and a monkey proof cover. As Emboo River is in the Maasai Mara National Reserve, more substantial farming cannot and should not be done. Therefore, Emboo River has a second shamba outside the Reserve where vegetables, fruits and honey are produced. The produce is organic which means that Emboo River’s farmers use natural products as fertilizers and to keep insects away.
Emboo River’s menu includes dishes inspired by local and international cuisines. The menu is based on a ‘flexitarian’ diet, meaning that it is mainly focused on vegetable dishes and limits the number of meat dishes. Limiting the consumption of meat has a big positive impact on the environment, because the production of meat is paired with high use of water, deforestation and the emission of methane gas.
Emboo River’s Chefs have been trained by the Mtofu team to create exquisite vegan dishes. Do you have other special food wishes? Gluten free, lactose intolerant, vegetarian, pescatarian, extra spicy, homemade non dairy milks, spirulina and other superfoods … Just give us a heads up and our Chefs will prepare meals that are finger licking good.
Ready to enjoy a Kenyan tea or coffee? Emboo River’s team was trained by the well-known Connect Coffee! Connect Coffee provides us with the best coffee beans and assists farmers to improve their coffee production (both quantity & quality) and welfare. Emboo River’s teas are created by Stir Me Tea. These loose leaf teas are grown in Kenya.
KIDS’ ACTIVITIES
The Maasai Mara offers breathtaking sunsets. We want you to enjoy this spectacle to the fullest and therefore Emboo River offers sundowners: a delicious drink, homemade bitings and a wild spot in the savanna.
Did you know that Emboo River’s bartenders were trained by one of the best bars in the world? Scarfes Bar from Londen, United Kingdom and the Emboo River team created tasty drinks which they tested and sipped and again tested and sipped until they were absolutely perfect.
As soon as the sun has set, we invite you around the camp fire. This is the perfect spot to talk about the adventures of the day, gaze at the stars and listen to the tales of the Maasai.
Watch the sun rise over the Maasai Mara, see the savanna wake up after a dark night and spot animals from the sky.
A balloon safari over the Maasai Mara is an extraordinary experience. This unique moment is followed by a delicious fresh breakfast in the savanna. What better way to start your day?
