How to get to Mfangano Island Lodge
Mfangano Island Lodge is located on Mfangano Island in Lake Victoria, Kenya. There are several ways to get to the lodge:
- By boat: The most common way to get to the lodge is by boat. You can take a private boat from the mainland, which can be arranged by the lodge or hired from local fishermen. The journey takes around 1-2 hours depending on the weather and can be a scenic and enjoyable experience.
- By air: You can easily reach Mfangano Island Lodge through scheduled flights from Nairobi to Homa Bay airport, which is only a 45-minute drive away from Mbita. Once you arrive at Mbita, our team can pick you up in our boat and bring you to our stunning Island Lodge in just 30 minutes to an hour. Alternatively, you can also opt for the many daily flights from Nairobi to Kisumu, which is about 3 hours away from Mbita.
- By road and boat: You can also reach the lodge by road and boat. From Kisumu, you can drive to Mbita and then take a boat to Mfangano Island. The journey takes around 3-4 hours and can be arranged by the lodge or local transport companies.
