Days 1 & 2: Samburu National Reserve

Located on the banks of the Ewaso Ng’iro river, the Samburu National Reserve is an ideal place to start your journey in Kenya. The Uaso Nyiro River, which cuts through the park, provides nourishment that sustains the wide variety of fauna and wildlife that you can spot on the reserve. The Holiday Dealers- Samburu Safari

A drive through will allow us to view elephants, lions, rhinos, leopards, buffalo, and a variety of other animals. Lake Lokipi hot spring is one of the best places to spot flamingos and reptiles, who migrate there to mate at various times of the year.

Though most visitors come to see the animals, the scenery is no disappointment. Imagine a quintessential Kenyan safari, and what you’re probably picturing is something like the Rift Valley, the area in which this reserve sits.

Days 3 & 4: Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Sweetwaters-Serena-Camp7

You may have been to conservancies before, but you’ve likely never seen anything like the Ol Pejeta Conservancy: a 90,000 acre, non-profit conservancy that is home to great apes, black rhinos, chimpanzees, and a host of other animals. This is also one of the few places in the world that you can see the northern white rhino. The conservancy houses four of the seven northern white rhinos living in captivity – they are generally considered extinct in the wild.

We will also take time to visit the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary, which is the only place where this endangered species can be seen in Kenya. Originally established by the Ol Pejeta Conservancy, the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) and the Jane Goodall Institute to provide a home for orphaned chimpanzees, this sanctuary has become home to 43 chimpanzees and counting.

Day 5: Lake Nakuru National Park

Mbweha-Camp-Nakuru

Known as the bird watcher’s paradise, this park is ideal for anyone interested in seeing flamingos and other birds in their natural habitat, as well as rhinos and waterbuck.

Aside from the lake, the park also houses Makalia waterfall and a number of great hills and viewpoints for watching game like rhinos and waterbuck. Baboon Cliff offers great views of the park, and the chance to see baboons in the wild.

The Out of Africa Lookout is an ideal spot to get sweeping views of the park and lake, and is often less crowded by tourists than Baboon Cliff.

Days 6 & 9: Masai Mara National Reserve

Masai Mara and the Great Migration - Heritage

The Masai Mara National Reserve is contiguous with the Serengeti National Park, Tanzania, and is largely considered the most popular park in Kenya. It is a must for any Kenya Safari. This reserve boasts large populations of Masai lions, African leopards, and Tanzanian cheetahs.

From July to October, zebras, gazelles, and wildebeests can be spotted making the Great Migration to and from the Serengeti. There are a number of research centers in and around the reserve which study different animals, and it is one of the most popular tourist sites in the area.

This vast and diverse national park will give you the chance to see a variety of animals, it also allows you to experience the people whose name it is derived from; the Maasai.

During your 3 night stay you will be sleeping in the Mara Intrepid Luxury tented Camp, overlooking the Talek River. This camp is thought of as one of the most spectacular in the world and has been the base point for BBC TV wildlife shows over the years.

Day 10: Lake Naivasha

Naivasha Kongoni Lodge (5)

Since you will be headed to Amboseli National Park, to avoid too much fatigue we recommend a stop over at Lake Naivasha in Naivasha Town

Lake Naivasha is a freshwater lake, located at the highest altitude of the Rift Valley. The lake is an ideal place to spot hippos, and the many varieties of fish in the lake. By night, the area offers views of stars and the night sky unlike anything you can see in the city.

Unlike most of the parks and reserves we will see, the Lake Naivasha is not just a tranquil place in nature. The area is surrounded by flower farms, homes of local fishermen, churches, campers, and relaxing residences, one of which was home to Joy Adamson of Born Free.

Days 13 & 14: Tsavo National Park

Sarova-Salt-Lick-Game-Lodge7

Tsavo National Park is the biggest national park in Kenya, and one of the biggest national parks in the world. Because of this, the park largely encompasses every type of terrain you can find in Kenya.

The east side of the park is flat and dry, but offers visitors a chance to see the Yatta Plateau (which has the world’s largest lava flow) and Lugard Falls. The west side of the park, which offers Lake Jipe and the Mzima Springs, is more mountainous and wet. This makes it an ideal spot to view large mammals like buffalo and rhinos.

The Mudanda Rock is a favorite attraction: a stratified rock that supplies water to the natural dam below it. During the dry season, you can see hundreds of animals, including elephants, come to drink from it.

While most visitors choose to soak up the sun, and maybe have a drink, there are endless things to do at Diani Beach. Visitors often choose to windsurf, go scuba diving or snorkeling, or try our deep-sea fishing.

Surrounding clubs and resorts offer tennis, golfing, and horse riding. Even if you’re not looking to do anything active, the many fine restaurants, bars, spas, and local shopping will keep you busy over the week.
